Might want to be careful with the use of ANZAC in associations...it may may viewed by some as improper usage of the arconym, and cause grave offence.
(hasn't upset me though)
;)
My appologies, KiltedKiwi. I was basically quoting from the Clan web page
ANZAC Clan Livingstone/MacLea Society
which was set up by our Chief.

Greg,
It just seems a wee bit odd to call a clan association that, as it is a reference to units of the Military...
I wouldnt worry about mate, I'm not.

I had intended to say that the only clan I have association with is the USMC. Then I noticed others had posted similar traits. I hate not being the first.
While I have a paper trail showing me in the Clan Campbell, I never wanted to spend the money for a DNA test. Unless it is a paternity suit.

I am a member of the O'Dochartaigh Clann Association. We also have a hereditary CHief who hails from Spain, and is a direct descendant of Cahir O'Dogherty (the last Irish Chief of the Inishowen Peninsula in Dhún na nGall. He died in 1608)
I also identify with the Lamont Clann in respect to my monther's family though I have not yet joined the association.

Clan Cunningham for me, although being just a new member I haven't really got too involved. As far as I can figure out, up here in Canada these sorts of things aren't big at all. For example, at our Highland Games this past summer there weren't any clan tents at all, just a few vendors. I'm looking forward to using the geneological services and will try to get more involved as I get more comfortable with my Scots heritage.

I would agree with RB51 that Canadian Scottish Festivals have been slow to incorporate Clans into Games.
I have seen a slow change in this position. Up until just the past two years I had never received an invitation to bring Clan Cunningham and our tent to any Canadian game. Now I receive them regularly.

Thanks for getting the word out, Greg! Yes, we're excited for what 2010 will have for our new Clan Society!
As for the ANZAC business, I believe this is just a nickname the Chief gave the Australia/New Zealand Society set up a couple of years ago. Officially, they don't use that designation. (But as Greg said, the Chief has used that terminology himself, but probably shouldn't have.)
