[QUOTE=Radge;861778]Too true Sir,
the 'Blae Bunnet' was worn by the troops before the tricorn came in. The Royal Ecossais, Ogilvie's and Albany's were the Franco-Scottish Regiments (not to mention the Jock Jacobites that served in the Irish Regiment's, i.e Dillion's, Routh's, Lally's etc.)
Sorry about the quality of the image below showing Donald Cameron of Lochiel with a Royal Scots (France) uniform with a plaid.

A Royal Scot in camp from a period playing card:

Lead figurine of the early turn out of the 'Royale Ecossais' mid-1740's

Their maginificent flag (albeit a Wikipedia version)

P.S. Msr. Ancienne Alliance, hats off to one of the most interesting and inspiring members of this forum, an' nae mistake.
NB: Culloden/Drumossie Moor 1746 had the Royal Scots of England facing the Royal Scots of France across the field. Ironic huh? Neither side really fighting for Scotland (except maybe the French troops- to a point).

Robert,
might I inquire as to the width of the ribbon utilized for your project?
Thanks.

Thanks.
We now use one inch wide ribbon (27mm) for a more vintage look.
Best,

My attempt at duplicating.....
Here is the results on me sitting down and making one. I used a smaller ribbon and the hat is one of those being sold at Matt's Scottish Tartan Museum.
This is the final item sewed and applied to said bonnet:
Here is a close up of me in the mirror:

I just went to the craft store to pick up my white ribbon. I chose 1.5in (38.10mm) version. I will craft it tonight before bed. Picture to follow. Thank you for the "how to" I am excited!
