I see that you have revised your post by removing the words that you would "restrict the wearing of hackles etc...''. I did not, however, misinterpret your words and would prefer that there was no inference that I had. I am sure, however, that you would not genuinely wish to impose restrictions of that kind, even if you had the power to do so.

Yes, I have. Re-reading my original post, I could see how the word "restrict" could be viewed adversely, even though that was not my intent, nor my intended tone. Of course I would not wish to impose "restrictions" of any kind on anybody, who am I to have the right to do so? I was simply stating my personal opinion on the subject, honestly. Let's move on, Phil.
Kind regards,

Sometimes his kilt belt can be seen "sagging" a wee bit, as I have seen this before with the Duke in other photos, and though it tends to bother me, what can one do, you know?! I do not see the suspenders (braces?) in which you speak of, and I am quite sure he does not wear them with the kilt.
Sorry, the use of 'belt AND suspenders' was only a figure of speech, indicating the redundancy of having multiple canes...
My own belt tends to wander too.

Oh Mike,
a man after my own heart. I was trying to zoom in on the cantle, as I'm willing to wager a fair bit there's some rather nice engraved detail on it.
Sorry for the double highjack

No worries, gents! I have always been a fan of the Duke's choices for his Highland dress - both day and evening wear. He definitely has a flair about it, and wears it well. He inspired me to recently purchase a pair of House of Cheviot kilt hose in a dusty pink colour!
Cheers,

I think you are right! Perhaps several "bullseye" designs? I tried to zoom in as well.

Though as he seems to be upright without their assistance, I assume he's holding them for others...
Those sticks belong to his sons, The Marquis of Lorne, and Lord Rory Campbell.

Makes perfect sense, Sandy! Especially if you look at the height of the sticks, or "smaller" cromachs perhaps for his sons? Cheers.
