The end result was quite decent and I have my eyes on a single breasted confederate jacket to do something similar with. Though I am currently getting ready to add a navy blue facing, gauntlet style cuff, and epaulettes to it. The idea is to make it a more formal style jacket that can be worn open and look decent.

Looks pretty sharp!

Having seen a Confederate shell jacket worn with a Confederate Memorial kilt, I'd say it looks as good with a kilt
as almost any non Scottish traditional jacket, and better than many.
As someone who had relatives on both sides of that one, I'll say as for what people might say or think, getting their
history from the Washington government and standard curriculum assures about as much accuracy as getting the
history of the Rape of Nanking from the Japanese standard curriculum. Wider reading is ALWAYS helpful. A distant
cousin lost in that one lies beneath a stone stating "He Died Fighting for the Constitution".

I think I would agree, and I also liked the one I saw made from a gray shell jacket. The blue probably works better
for more formal, and for a wider assortment of tartans.

I wear a Federal blue artillery shell jacket with my Kilt. The navy with red trim looks very dashing and I really don't care what anyone else thinks.
