A nice seal Evening sporran in Canada.
It's one of the WE Scott Patent sporrans.
William Elder Scott applied for a patent on a new way of doing the opening on Evening sporrans
Feb 10 1953 Patent No 714,788
He had an oval stamp made up and at least for a few years his Evening sporrans bore this stamp in addition to his normal
Made In Scotland Real Leather
oval stamp, both done in gold ink.
WE Scott & Son provided sporrans for a number of shops, and for some of these retailers would stamp the sporrans with their names.
This sporran is stamped
J Morrison
Lawnmarket
Edinburgh
which used to be a legitimate traditional kiltmaker. A 1958 advert states
John Morrison Kiltmaker
Gents full Highland Day and Evening Dress
461 Lawnmarket Edinburgh
This sporran would have been made in the 1950s or perhaps 1960s.
BTW the Morrison shop was bought out by the Gold Brothers, purveyors of Pakistani stuff, years ago.

Thanks Richard for all your posts calling attention to interesting quality sporrans that would otherwise get lost in the crowd.

Sorry offtopic, but a Scottish-made (by Lochcarron) black Argyll jacket with starting bid under $20.
Yes post to the USA puts it up around $50 but even then it's a remarkable bargain.
Size 48R armpit-to-armpit 25 inches or 50 inch chest.

Thanks! I missed that.
Sometimes sporrans fly under the radar because the seller misspelt "sporran".
Under "sporan" (which I believe is correct Gaelic) is this nice Evening sporran.
Looks like the mites or something have got to the fur on front.
In any case the shipping to the USA is more than the sporran. Presumably it would be a much bigger bargain for UK buyers.
