Rarely, in fact, I cannot recall the last time that I did. A damn silly idea if you ask me and appears to me to have been adopted by the modern quasi ceremonial brigade who want to make something out of nothing.

A Birthday Dram
I just received a bottle of The Macallan Rare Cask for my birthday. I think it is only available in the United States, but it is one of the smoothest drams I have ever tasted. I shared a wee dram with another Pastor friend of mine. We were both impressed. If you like the taste of peet, this is not for you. But if you enjoy single malt aged in sherry casks, this is a treat. While the price will only allow me to partake of it on special occasions, it is good to have such a bottle available to celebrate some of the high points in life.

Yesterday, at the Bethabara Highland Games, I had a few wee drams of Old Pulteney 12, Highland Park 12, Talisker, and Black Grouse. Yum! I love Highland Games!
I almost forgot one, Caol Ila.

Wish I could have made it, but had some nuptials to attend. Next year.

If you're no longer a consumer of the spirits, NPG, IMO that will do.

Oh very nice, Baron!
We are 'tasting' a 15 yo Dalmore tonight at about GBP55 (incl VAT) and are finding orange, chocolate, Scandinavian spice and maybe anise as the palate.
Your Alexander III is GBP130, including VAT, for us and Hart, the most knowledgeable among us, remembers King Alex as a skillful blending of various malts matured in madeira, sherry and bourbon barrels from Kentucky; he recalls -- with his notebook in hand and his right forefinger raised -- vanilla, raisins, orange as the dominant palate. What do you think?
