I am not familiar with either of them I'm afraid.

Both Red Cap series were about the Military Police. John Thaw's version was the classic 1960s version. It was very early John Thaw. The Tamzin Outhwaite version was made a few years back. Surprisingly, the John Thaw version is available on DVD, but not the more recent version.

I'm listening to the Pentangle and reminded of another show:
Take Three Girls
(The Pentangle performed the show's theme song: Light Flight)

some great suggestions all; I'll second "Wire in the Blood", "Torchwood" and "Top Gear"...and the list goes on and on. Anyone remember "Thin Blue Line" with Rowen Atkinson?

A recent series I liked was:
Poldark
As for Last of the Summer Wine, I have a difficult time understanding the thick accent of the one in the green hat. Keeping Up Appearances is a riot. I like the Agatha Christie series and Inspector Morse.

I can't believe none of you mentioned Monarch of the Glen. Even our dogs are named Molly and Hector, and Duncan ALWAYS wears his kilt. It was a brilliant show, weakened as the original cast was phased out, but still, is better than most.
My faves after that are of course, As Time Goes By and My Hero.

Oh my Goddess, how in the world could I have forgot that one? Dame Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer in the same series! It's one of the best sitcoms ever made.

After a long, hard day at work, last evening I posted myself and a wee dram in front of the TV for Dame Judith and Geoffrey. About 10 minutes in to the show, a thunder storm knocked out the satellite connection. Aaaaarrrrgh!!!!!!!
Some days life is just not fair.
