So, I was able to collect my new MacCreary kilt by Barb Tewksbury from the post office this morning. I brought it home and took it out of the box and regarded it for a moment, hung it up and dashed off to work, grabbing one of the leftover swatches on my way.

At lunch today, I wandered around the Macy's menswear department for a while, scouting out to see if I could find one or two new shirts to go with it. To my surprise, I found a plum-colored dress shirt that mimics the color formed where the burnt orange and blue stripes cross. I think the shirt even has a tiny bit of reddish color buried in the twill.

When I got home, I pulled out a rust colored shirt to see whether that would work.

Well, the kilt is really beautiful, and Barb did an absolutely meticulous job once again. At my request, she added a quarter inch above the belt center line and put a touch more flair at the waist, and it fits like a glove, riding on me exactly where I wanted it.

There are so many colors in it, I can see I'm going to have fun mixing it up when I wear it casually. In addition to the predominant orange, there's a wide stripe of royal blue - same as what's in my Douglas modern; a bottle green that when crossed with the orange makes a nice olive; baby blue, black, and gold. With Fall clothes coming out, I expect I'll have plenty of things to choose from.

This kilt is my gift to myself after having finally settled some personal matters that were causing me some financial stress, and I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than to be able to wear something like this that will give me so much joy. I couldn't be happier with it.

Pics of me actually in it will follow, once I have figured out the best ensembles.

    Regards,
    Rex.

I like both color shirts with it! I'm particularly fond of the plum.

Wonderful news Rex, congratulations. Looking forward to the next set of photos, I too like the combination of the plum shirt, as the owner of a Barb Tewksbury kilt I know you'll absolutely love this one, but you knew that already didn't you?
