When TO and when NOT to wear a sporran?

I always wear a sporran when kilted. I'd wear a sporran even if I had a kilt with pockets. The more pockets/sporrans you have, the more man you are.

Just remember, gentlemen, that a modern kilt "hangs funny" when things are actually worn in the pockets. Even a modern kilt, worn with a sporan looks better than without, unless of course it has the sporan style pocket in front.
