Done two of the three in kilts. If something needs to be done on a ladder, I have no qualms climbing up it to change a light bulb, or whatever. With respect to working under cars, my old black Survival was probably the best piece of clothing that I found for junkyarding. Lots of pockets, and comfortable. Didn't need the toolbox quite frequently.

But I NEVER wear a kilt while using a chain saw!

My Utilikilt holds the chain wrench and spare chain for sawing logs in the forest.
When felling the trees a kilt makes better sense than trousers... especially when you have to start running very quickly!
Have done the above for decades.

I agree with the "sitting for long periods of time" thing. I did it twice and it wrinkled the hell out of my pleats. Had to change out of the kilt when I got to the destination because my pleats were bad and everyone that I was with just thought I was chickening out. Jerks... But anyway I am quite surprised that nobody said while swinging on a swing.

Granted he doesn't wear it to fight in, and you wouldn't want to for the same reason most guys don't wear gis anymore, but still. Tell him he can't wear it out to the octagon, and you'll get an Irish Hand Grenade stuffed down your throat.

I would advise against being buried in a kilt. Leave them for the living.
If, on the other hand, you choose cremation, I recommend an acrylic kilt.
I think it would be best to avoid wearing a kilt or any other loose hanging clothing when working with a large wood chipper.
