Re: U.S. customs
Interesting update, for those who are curious. Those elements of my Scotweb order that were shipped last week, have arrived on U.S. soil, and are being held at the FedEx center in Memphis, TN, pending some paperwork.
In speaking with the FedEx import agent this morning, despite the manifest clearly stating "woven", in the description of my tartan fabric, FedEx still asked whether my tartan fabrics were woven or knitted. I learned they need to know whether the wool is "combed or carded" (something I couldn't answer), and that a sporran flask falls under the authority of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration by virtue of it being classified as a container for drinkable liquids.
Scotweb has done an outstanding job helping me clarify things for Customs, and I hope to see my shipment status removed from "clearance delay" soon. If anything more happens that is either notable or curious (LOL) I'll pass it along.
