Rank Insignia Pins on Flashes

Moderators, can we go ahead and lock this one down?

My original question (and a followup) was asked and answered, and it seems to have gotten off track a bit with people's personal opinions not about pins on flashes, but on the right or wrong of military insignia on any civilian dress.

For the record, I have abandoned my idea of my rank pins on my flashes and may wear a small lapel pin of crossed American and USMC flags on my Argyll (when i get one). Thanks to all who answered my questions.
