Visiting Edinburgh and the weather has been cool and mixed sun and rain. It has been not nears as cold or windy as I expected. My son in law assures me that will change.
We had lunch with one of my daughters friends Sunday and she told us the her parents were with out power for half of a day up on the Isle of Sky. I am sure it is much cooler that far north.
I went up up to the castle yesterday and the wind at the top was pretty high. I had trouble standing.
My my new granddaughter gets prettier and bigger each day. She has gained almost 3 lbs since birth last month. Nobody here has a problem taking youngsters out in the cold here.
BTW: Somone was playing the pipes at St Vincent last night across from my daughters flat. The baby took no notice. I am not sure what the event was. St Vincent has been converted to a community center.
I also saw saw a kilted chap on the bus today that did not appear to be heading to work. He was sporting a very nice Gordon Weatherd.
Stay at warm and safe all.

-8C with light snow when I headed out for my morning run. I think it's time to move down under for the next six months or so.

Well the weather is 40F and three days of rain, with one more day. Unusual for us to have so much. But to get all the rain at once is normal. Unfortunately, flash flooding is now common, and driving is risky. This town needs drainage.

I went out on Thursday morning to gather apples for a Thanksgiving Day dessert - my son in law is American and we were invited for the day, and there was ice on the rainwater catcher.
That is unusual so early in the winter.

Went down the garden yesterday morning Saturday, to find frost in usual first area to get it. .From no wind in the morning it gradually built up all day but it stayed sunny, as forecast heavy rain came after dark.
This morning, is not as windy but the forecast shows the high winds previously forecast have been up graded to named storm, Clodagh. 60 to 70 mph winds so whether we get any sailing in depends on when it gets here we don't go out if its gusting well over 20 mph.

Severe gale from the NW, ice, particularly on the roads and snow, even on the lower ground, that is starting to drift.

We had that first snow, measured in at 11 inches, took about a week to melt off, had freezing rain the other eve, today is looking nice though.
Odd thing is my flat leaf parsley is still doing great in the garden after many hard frosts, buried in snow, a week of 20 degree Fahrenheit nights.

The snow acts as insulation against really low temperatures - which is why I wince at soppy songs where the silly woman goes out to scrape the snow away so her tree won't die.
