I only have one pipe at the moment. It was given to me by a friend in high school. I had told him how I really wanted a nice pipe since I was sick of smoking a cheap corncob. (Don't get me wrong, a corncob makes for a nice smoke, but it still doesn't quite have the appeal of a nice pipe.) I had told him of my father's collection and how he'd given it away years before. He said that he had inherited over 100 pipes from his grandfather, and surprised me the next day by giving me one of them. It's a treasure that I will someday hand down. It's a Peterson Shamrock, and the hallmark on the silver band puts the manufacturing date in 1939. It has the Peterson lip, which contrary to most advertising claims, really does cut down on tongue bite. The tobacco I'm currently smoking is a cheap vanilla cavendish from the local grocery store. If I had my way, however, I'd be smoking some Durango Gold or just about any other blend from the Durango Smoke Shop. Those of you who smoke owe it to yourself to check some of Don's stuff out. The website is: http://www.durangosmokeshop.com/

I picked one of those up a couple years ago. They're still in production!

Someone else posted about Cup O'Joes over on LiveJournal. I had never heard of them before. Was that you?

Was not I that posted about Cup O' Joes...I literally came across them by accident. Reasonable shipping and prices and since they're in NY, my package came after only a few days. Was the other post about them positive? I would give them a positive rating, they even included some currant cavendish at no charge. Too bad I don't really like it.
Erisianmonkey, I too have recently acquired a Peterson and thoroughly enjoying it!
Cheers!

Hello, new member here. I started smoking pipes again about two years ago, and like all hobbies I've tried, I immersed myself in it. I probably have around twenty pipes now, from clays to meerschaum to briar. Even have one real gourd calabash. My most often smoked pipes are Peterson's bent System rusticated or sandblasted briars.
Favorite tobaccos are McClelland's Dark Star and Bulk 5125 Coyote Classic Full, and Cornell & Diehl Old Joe Krantz and Three Friars.
I've learned a lot about pipe tobaccos on the web at http://www.tobaccoreviews.com and from the owner of the local pipe shop.

I, too, am a pipe smoker. And cigars, on occasion. To respond a month later to this thread that I'm just seeing for the first time - Cup o' Joes is great, I've bought a number of pipes from them and been very happy.
So, now the question is, where do you put your pipe when you're kiled? Hose?

I'm actually rather new to the forum and thought I would offer my two cents worth from a non-smokers point of view. Currently my older brother who smokes meerschaum like the ones found here http://www.cupojoes.com/cgi-bin/dept...o4509&tier2=88 (we live together), and I've found that depending on the type of tobacco he smokes in it determines whether I get a headache or not. Anytime I'm around cigarette smoke I found I get headaches but I found it interesting that not all pipe tobacco does.

Well, I've carried a pipe pouch attached, with a clasp, to my belt.
However, this is not practical when I use my Parson's Pipe. It has
a medium-small bowl, but an 18-20" stem. This is an after dinner
pipe. The Pipe-Pouch is the way to go. It will fit in a sporran, or
blaser coat pocket ( if you are wearing a coat). If you have a button
shirt, then slip it inside the shirt. Anything's possible, be creative!

We brothers who smoke the pipe have yet to turn you! Ok, well we will probably never turn you but it is good to know that I can smoke something that wont give you a headache. . . . cause I give you enough of those already without smoking I am sure.
BTW, I am really, really loving my meerschaum lined French pipe. It smokes so well! Thanks again MacMillan of Rathdown!

Well, talk about resurrecting an old thread, but I had one of my Nording's lit and got to wondering if there were any threads on X-Mark's pipe smokers and sure enough... voila!
I have about 16 pipes now, and I gravitate towards mainly Danish freehand styles. I haven't smoked as much lately but really need to again due to how much I find myself relaxing when I do.

I think it was about time this one came back around.
I wasn't smoking my pipe for a while because, to be honest, I ran out of tobacco and had no money for more.
Imagine my surprise on finding that, now I am living in the U.S.A, Tobacco is A LOT cheaper.
I stocked up and I now have about a year's supply of both Black Cavendish and Cherry Cavendish; Two of my favourite tobaccos.
My favourite pipe was broken in the move over here (Darn Heathrow baggage handlers!) but my other two came through just fine.
I have a straight-stemmed Peterson with a small bowl and a nice curved-stemmed Barling with a good, deep bowl.
Both of them are a welcome addition to my evenings sitting on the decking and musing about how nice and mild Idaho winters are compared to Scotland.
