Leading up to getting my kilt last year I was lucky to find this great horsehair on ebay:
Then I found this being sold by Donny at Wyvern:
This has ended up being my most used sporran.
I thought I needed something simple and brown so I got this military daywear:
Got it from armyoutfitters online at a very reasonable price.
I think that one can get carried away with acquisitions and I am doing my best to keep blinkers on and not look for more. Can I do it?

I have the advantage of living in a small city in which any Scottish event has a high number of pipe band members (myself included) attending. Many of whom's only kilt is the band uniform. Needless to say, it's not uncommon to see day wear mixed in with the best of evening wear in Anchorage. That said, I find my L@M Highland leather sporran to go well with everything I do from casual to formal. Most people are fascinated enough by the design they're not too concerned with it being proper for the occasion anyways

Nice sporrans!
It's nice having your own 'in-house' sporran maker, although I don't think of Turpin as an accessory. Much like Robert has Lady Chrystel as his personal kilt maker.

My Fox Mask Sporran
I wear the Gordon tartan for my clan, but I sport the fox mask sporran for my family, the Todds.

That is an incredible picture, and really shows off L&M's sporran quite well!

Here's a few I've made up, there have been others, but I passed them out before I took any photos.

If I could only have one sporran, it would be a full mask because it can be worn with everything from a short sleeve shirt at the games to a black tie event like a tartan ball. That said, I think one has to exercise a bit of judgement-- most full mask sporrans sold in the USA and Canada tend to be on the large size. In fact, "Extra Large" might be a better descriptor. I believe that once a full mask sporran becomes much larger than an ordinary sporran it starts to overwhelm the rest of one's outfit.

The only sporran I own that I would consider for all-around wear would be my badger, however, I usually only wear it formally with with my PC coatee. Having seen others in daywear with full mask sporrans makes me think I might trot it out more often. This was the other night at my nephew's wedding.
I picked up this plain black sporran with the pewter button at the Kalamazoo Gun Show, a blackpowder trade show. I wear it semi-formally with a navy Braemar jacket, daywear with a tweed jacket or just casually sometimes. I think it would even work formally with the PC in a pinch, so I would have to say this would be a very economical option for somebody trying to get by with one sporran. I think I paid $35 for this sporran a few years ago. I originally was planning on affixing some sort of bling to the flap but decided I like it best in its simplicity.
I've owned this brown daywear sporran for 35 years and it hardly looks worse for the wear. I think this is the same style sporran McMurdo received from his dad and posted earlier in this thread. Just a classic for wearing with a green lovat tweed jacket, brown brogues and belt or ultra-casual for that matter.
I just had to post a photo of this sealskin sporran I picked up pre-owned on eBay this past week. It shows a little wear, but it's a beauty and what a great deal! It showed up on Saturday, the day of the wedding, but we had already left town, otherwise I would have worn it instead of my badger. Hmmm, now I'm going to have to decide between sporrans for the next formal event. Not a bad problem to have!
