This past weekend at the Salado Scottish Clan Gathering & Highland Games I had Macallan Cask Strength in my flask.

The last week or so my tipples have been:
Dalmore 21 (very nice on a warm evening on our screened porch)---very very nice for the price
Jamesons (at a Natalie Merchant concert)-- a standard available almost anywhere (kind of like MacDonalds----not great, but good enough, consistently predictable quality and very readily readily available)
Macallan Fine Oak 10 (sitting on the front porch watching the kids play in our cul de sac)--surprisingly nice for a young buck
Aberlour 16 (tonite before supper but after a pretty frustrating day at work)--Love this one
I have a few Islays, but they are not my first grab generally when I reach into the cabinet. Do like the sherry finished speysides. REALLY like the finished casked "private" collection from Glenmorangie---ALL of them, those that I have tried so far. Still need to have my cousin pick up a couple bottles of Ealanta from the Virginia ABC to complete that collection. A couple months ago picked up two Bruichlaiddich non-peated islays that I am warming up to.

I know this is my second non-scotch entry, but I am sampling an interesting bottle right now. Knob Creek Smoked Maple Bourbon. I am not normally one for this recent craze of flavoring liquor with anything, but after trying another maple flavored brand as a tasting and generally knowing Knob Creek as a reputable brand, I decided to give it a try. Oh and my liquor store had a nip bottle on display. Not bad, but very strong maple flavor and the smoke tastes fake. I don't think I'll be buying a full size bottle, but I am enjoying this small taste for what it is.

Loch Fyne, a blend sold by the Whisky Shop in Inverarary.
A gift from a couple where I work in gratitude to my suggestion to go to the Whisky Shop a try their blend on their visit to Inveraray Castle. They liked it so much they purchased several bottles including one for me!

Currently doing a little taste test between McAllen-12 and Laphroaig Cask-Strength. One salty, one peaty, and both with good qualities.
