This morning, I weighed in at 221. Another two pounds gone! It's moving - slow, but steady.

Way to go! I haven't weighed lately or counted any points so I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet this morning. I'm now at 219 ( 229 back when this thread started ). Slow and steady seems to describe me as well and I think that's best in the end. I've pretty much gotten used to eating a little less though I splurge occasionally. I think one key for me has been filling up on low calorie stuff and thus leaving a few extra points for something sweet. I made it through a beach trip and the first highland game of the season and lost weight so maybe I can make it through the rest of the year. It really helps that my wife is doing it too (she couldn't take Atkins) and we sort of keep each other in line. I can really see a difference in her. The neat thing for me in the last few days has been putting on my UK. Know how those two belt loops are supposed to meet when you snap it up? A few months ago they were as far apart as the east is from the west. Now they're right there together where they should be (as long as I'm standing still anyway). I just want to keep this going!

I have lost 20lbs in the last 2 months or so by cutting all my meals in half. If i go to a restaurant I as for a to go/take away box right off the bat. If I'm with my girl then we split it. just another idea. i need to get back to the doctor and see if my cholesteral has dropped from 233.

mrpharr, that is an excellent way to go. When eating in a restaurant, they always serve way more than you need to eat (although, what you might want to eat). If you save some for later at the beginning, you are healthier, and you have saved some good dough, since you get two meals for the price of one!
The same applies to buffets or salad bars, put much less on your plate than you would like.Trust me, you will be full, as "much less" is usually much more than you need to feel full. It is the taste and anticipation that makes you pile it on, not hunger.

Oh, geeze, thanks for reminding me: I left half of some garlicky rolled up Lebanese sandwich thing in my car!!!
Gratefully,

Thought I'd post another update.
I hit a little plateau there for a week or two; stayed right at 220 no matter what. Now, over the past week, I've fluctuated between 216 and 220, depending on how dehydrated I am ; right now, I'm at 218, so that's what I'm claiming for my current weight.
Like I said before, it's moving - slow, but steady.
