The UK product line is not marketed to women and it is not designed for women. Neither are kilts. Most miniskirts and women's tartan skirts or lady kilts, cross the aprons right over left and fasten on the left hip. Most all women's skirts similarly fasten and/or zip on the left hip. Men's kilts obviously fasten on the right hip. Therein is the major difference.
That said, if a woman wants to wear pants, board shorts or a men's kilt... that's fine, she can wear a tuxedo to her own wedding for all I care!
People have hangups about men's fashion, while women are free to do as they please. That's the culture we live in. We can't change that.
When people see a guy in a kilt, they say (or think), "Oh, he is Scotish (or Irish, or Welsh)." If you don't have a brogue, it makes them think... they seem to feel a need to re-evaluate the situation, ask questions or jump to conclusions, in order to "sort out" the "problem" they are preceiving... it is like something does not add up for them.
Most people are not knowledgable enough to question why a woman is in a UK or a kilt. It just gets past them alltogether.

Yep I don't want to see a woman in a UK... rather they wear a Rkilt ;)
I do make kilts for women and they just look fine in them.(About a third of my business is making kilts for women)
As for the right over left issue, the reason that came about was that the ladies had dressers or maids to dress them so when the dresser is facing them it was easier to do up the fasteners if you were right handed. Most of the kilt skirts that have the so called female closure are meant for the North American market. In europe it would not be uncommon to find the closure for a kilted skirt done up the same way as man.
If you think about it, It is only the last few centuries that we had trousers, back in time both genders wore some sort of skirt or robe like garment and even today there are many cultures that both men and women wear some sort of sarong type garment it's a non-issue to them.
All I know is, I like seeing a woman in a skirt! If she's in a kilt, skirt, dress, sarong no big deal I just like it.

Women have been doing things to aggravate men since Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden. Does anyone think that's going to change anytime soon?

I've seen both cases and have to agree... the R-kilts just seem put out more heat.

Robert, you do have a flair for understatement sometimes.

I think (even though some won't admit it) most women like seeing men in kilts, too.
