Fall 12 Week Program
Hi, my name is Mael and I am a food addict and compulsive eater.
I did not achieve my goal of losing 21 pounds of fat in 12 weeks. I succumbed to my love affair with CASS (chocolate, alcohol and salty snacks) during periods of stress.
I did achieve losing 7 pounds of fat (no, muscle loss), an inch of the chest, waist and hips, bringing down my fat % down 2.5 and total weight down by 3 ˝ %. I feel much better.
My twelve week fall goal now is to lose 10 pounds of fat. I’ll check in on 11/24

The weight loss can be done. Thanks to a challenge from my co-workers, I took off about 9% in 7 weeks. Now, gotta keep going, as I still want to get rid of my tummy. The weight keeps coming off from everywhere else, though... Trick for me is watching the chocolate...

I lost 25 by simply laying off soda and other sugars, drinking lots of water, and watching not what I eat but how much. This took me around 3 to 4 months. I took my time and the weight is still off. Holding steady (for about a year now). It's more a matter of overall lifestyle change than a "crash diet" for me. Losing it is one thing and keeping it off is another and that's my goal - keep it off for good.
Still have 10 or so to go but that's gonna take some actual work and a bit more discipline. Good luck!

I think I had better bow out of this. The company Dr. has told me if I go below 200 pounds he will pull my drivers lincing(sp?). I did weigh 280 pounds holiday season of 2008. But on a good note I have lost over 50 pounds since Janurary of this year. Good luck to every one.

Thank you. It was not the best way to lose all of that tonnage. I went to eating one meal a day. I am trying to eat two meals a day. I am not having much luck with that.

My wife is into Weight Watchers - the system where you eat what you want but count a "points" value for the foods you eat. The goal is to stay at or below your points allowance every day. I suppose it's just another way of counting calories. It's effective however. It kind of forces you to make better choices. That couple slices of pizza or plate of yummy haggis for lunch are going to use up most of your points for the day!
I decided to do it with her in part to help support her weight loss and in part to help me drop the extra 10 I've been looking for. My first week ended yesterday with a 1.5 lb loss.
I'd recommend this system as it's not about starving yourself or even radical dieting. It's simply about training yourself to make the better choice (most of the time). I can still have that pizza but I might want to skip the Sam Adams later that evening! Balance.
It's one way to do it.

Not dead, just busy
Hello fellow people of substance.
This has been the busiest summer and fall of my adult life. Without going into what it is like to be a high school technology coordinator/teacher, parent of a high schooler and primary schooler, celebrating 20 years of marriage and of course a weekend stagehand and roadie...you can imagine that eating well hasn't been a priority.
However, I'm aback at it for two weeks and have already dropped 8 lbs. Keep on keeping on and checking in your status.
This weekend I am going to the Upper Midwest Emmy Awards. My school has been nominated for an Emmy! Black tie affair, so I am wearing the MacLellan tank with an Argyle jacket and waistcoat. I'll post pictures of me holding the award, or at least me in the arms of some stunned local celebrities. At least the kilt fits :-)
A proud Great-Great Grandson of the Clan MacLellan from Kirkcudbright.

It Fits!
The first week of December I went to strap on my USA Kilt five yarder in Robertson red. Needed kilt extenders to do the job.
The same week went for my annual physical and my physician wanted to put me on Tricor for my elevated Triglycerides (416). I told her, I didn’t want to take it and asked give me 6 months I will get them to a acceptable level by getting my weight down by exercising and eating a plant based diet following the ‘Eat to Live’ diet espoused by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. She rolled her eyes and said I’ll give you 3 months.
Well, today 10 weeks later and 20 pounds lighter, I strapped on the same kilt in celebration of the birthday of Hugh Mercer (Scottish, British and American Patriot). It fit perfectly. The 20 pounds is 10% of previous weight. I get the lipid profile tests in two more weeks.
A little late but met the Challenge. The threat of taking meds gave me the push to get it done. Thanks, Chubrock!
