    I think there is a difference between an armed guard at a funeral and one attending services. The guards are expected to be armed and weapons are not generally concealed. Personally, I see no problem with wearing a sgian dubh as part of the outfit.

    My wife's rabbi looks forward to me wearing the kilt. I have done it only at the Christmas Dinner held by the temple at a Chineese restauant. since I haven't worn it into Temple yet I just sent her an e-mail asking her opinion. If she opposes it I don't know if I would wear the kilt there at all.

    A bit off-topic, but as a child in the UK, we were required to carry pocket knives to school so we could sharpen our pencils! The blades were typically 2.5" (before the metric system swap-over).
