I recently emptied my Ardmore Legacy and since it's not available locally, I decided to try Teacher's Highland Cream. It's not quite as peaty as I was hoping but a solid dram and much cheaper than some of the other bottles I was considering.
Thanks for the post which encouraged me to try this one out!

Rellies and friends here this evening enjoyed Bunnahabhain An Cladach (The Shore). It was a Duty Free purchase and intended, we are sure, for that market. Regardless of this hesitancy, we (9 of us, excluding the gin person who declined to comment), liked the Bunna offering. And we finished the bottle. Thanks, Angus

I recently picked up a bottle of BenRiach 10yo Curiositas; as a peat fan but having never found a Speyside that I really enjoyed, I thought I'd try this.
The peat is different than my favourites; Bowmore and Highland Park.
Overall it's an enjoyable dram; quite different from the peat from Islay or highlands. Looking forward to my next dram.

A dram of remembrance
Daron Calvados- Normandy Apple Brandy
It may not be Scottish, but it is appropriate for tomorrow's remembrance. Our own infamous kilter, Piper Bill, mentioned this fine liquor was presented (sometimes appropriated) to the soldiers liberating France 75 years ago by the grateful French civilians.
I plan to present a dram to each surviving WWII veteran I encounter tomorrow. It seems only fitting they be thanked as they were 75 years ago.
Sadly unable to upload from my phone.

I will be at Cantigny Park, Wheaton, IL for their D Day commemoration. It is the home of the 1st Division Museum. Hopefully there will be many WWII veterans to greet and toast.

Glenfiddich IPA
One of the first pair of entries in the Glenfiddich Experimental Series – a whisky finished in casks seasoned with India Pale Ale. The Speyside Craft Brewery created a special beer which was aged in ex-Glenfiddich casks for a month before they were returned to the distillery and filled with whisky for a three-month finishing period. The result is a vibrant and fruity dram.

One of my uncles landed in France on Sword beach on June 6th and then fought his way (along with thousands of others) right across Europe until the ceasefire. He rarely talked about his experiences, but had a tough time of it by all accounts. However, I do remember one comment well, as I mentioned to him that I was going to Normandy for a wedding. Hmmm he said; "Watch the calvados! Calvados killed more American soldiers than German bullets". I have distant French relatives living in Normandy who were living there during the fighting and I mentioned my uncle's, what I thought was a light hearted inter-unit leg pulling comment and they quite seriously agreed!
