An attempt at a modern kilt. The 'Worky'
Hey everybody,
Here are a couple pics of my first attempt at a kilt using a brown canvas. I have never sewn a stitch since eighth grade (I am now 26 yo), and this was the first thing I've attempted since then. Anyway, I used the brown canvas, the two pockets hang from the top of the garment which sits at the waist. I made them hang from the top so when I wrap the top apron over it is hidden by the right pocket and the left fastener is hidden by the left hanging-from-the-waist-pocket. I used snaps to make it easier to take on and off. Usually I'd be wearing it with a belt anyway so it's not going to get ripped off, being that its not held on by straps. The pleats aren't stitched and are pretty rough looking, especially when after getting up after sitting for a bit. The canvas doesn't have much give at first. I've washed it twice since making it and its softened up a bit but is still a little stiff.
