How much should I set my sight on?
OH no! With the impeccable logic that Detroit Pete used (when confronted with two kilts, buy em both!) I really must set my sights on the next step in my Kilt Kloset.
My next two (unless side tracked) shall be a Lindsay Modern in 16 oz, and drum roll a 16 oz Birse. Since I want to be able to wear these for years and years they will be wool (of course), more than likely Scottish mill (that is unless there is a really high quality US or Canadian mill that will do a small yardage order).
Your help is needed in the following areas:
1. For both I would like to have these as tanks; how much yardage should I set my sights on for a full 8 yard tank and a matching fly? 9 10 11 yards? I am not exactly a small guy 5'10, 240, 44" at the belly, so does that make any difference?
2. For the Birse; I have done some investigation and have come to the conclusion this will have to be custom woven. Which mill would be 1) cost effective. 2) How much should I have woven, for both a 8 yard tank and fly, and while I am at it should I go for enough for a lighter 4 yard Box pleat? I know this is not going to be in-expensive, so going into this should I plan for enough material for the future?
As aways, your help is deeply appreciated. ith:
