HRH Prince Andrew meet and greet........

I have received an invitation to our 150th highland games traditional Saturday night gathering during the week of festivities.
HRH Prince Andrew will be attending.

The invitation calls for "business attire/highland dress".

I know business attire is a dark suit/white shirt and tie. What about the combo? Is this a Black Argyll, white shirt and tie/bow tie?

I think I'd go with a long tie rather than a bow tie, if others will be in business attire. Otherwise, sounds fine to me, although if you have an alternative to the black Argyll, you might also consider it.

ROYAL EVENT
When I attended Prince Charles' Garden Party at Holyrood in 2002 I wore my Black Argyle jacket with white shirt and tie and kilt with formal evening sporran with cantle.
The number of Prince Charlie and Argyle jackets to be seen were about equal so you probably wouldn't go wrong with either jacket.

Tweed Jacket(waist coat if you choose) and "drop down" tie and black well polished shoes.

At Prince Williams wedding where the invitation stated "Morning Dress or Lounge(business) suits". The kilted gentleman is perfectly attired in Lounge (business) suit equivalent.
