Newbie kilted DownUnder
Newbie kilted DownUnder.
(By that I mean that I'm new to wearing a kilt, and that I live in the Antipodes.)
Interesting reactions so far.... From women mostly positive, at worst neutral.. ("why?",and "do you have Celtic blood?") One woman (an ex-pat Scot) said that she liked the "swish".
But the reactions from the men have been interesting. I thought the funniest was "make sure you wear it to the party!"
But the most interesting have been along the lines of (and I quote)....
"You are such a nerd! I am a Gordon we even have our own tartan but I won't wear our kilt. Much to dad's displeasure."
Et cetera....
Three of my male friends have told me that they have good (family tradition) reasons to wear a kilt, but then told me that there is no way that they would actually wear one. I am willing to wear a kilt, and in their eyes that makes me a nerd!
Ha!
