Yesterday morning when returning home after a walk our neighbour was about to remove the layer of snow and ice from the windows of her car.
Like always we had a little chat and she told me she was surprised and impressed that I managed to take a walk before driving off to my job.

It was the first time I talked to her wearing a kilt. Nothing, absolutely nothing in her face showed any sign of wondering why; no stolen looks were to be observed and no word was said about it. Everything was just as usual.
Of course, she would have known already, because I have met her husband a couple of times when kilted. Also it is unlikely that she hadn’t seen it herself from a distance.
Nevertheless, to me that incident was another proof that a man in a kilt it is a non-event and causing no negative reactions, even in countries or communities where a kilt is something most people have only seen on television or in print media.

I’m sure all members of this forum shall agree that wearing a kilt in public is nothing to worry about. However, should there be one or two out there reading, being interested but still somewhat reluctant, my best advice to them would be: get a kilt – if not already in the closet - and go wear it.

On Sunday afternoon we are to attend a small get-together with all the neighbours (first Sunday in Advent). Let’s see if something is mentioned by then.
