    Material question???

    New here first post ANYWAYS....

I am not currently kilted but desperately wish to be And being currently unemployed(like a ton of others these days...) AND a single father with two little boys at home buying a kilt is pretty much out of the question LOL BUT I am a fair hand at building things so I am going to give the x-kilt a try... anyways on to me question...

I know alot of people recommend cotton/polly twill for the x-kilts.... canvas works for great wearing but it wrinkles....... I am assuming thats a pure cotton canvas right??? what about a cotton/poly canvas(seems joanns has some on sale REALLY cheap at like 3.99 a yard and its 59" so I can get two kilts !!!!!

Anyways does the cotton/poly canvas wrinkle as bad as normal cotton canvas???

I guess the main reason I am asking is because the cotton/polly bottom weight twill is on sale at 3.99 a yard (43" wide) and they also have a 65/35 cotton/polly bottom weight canvas on sale for 3.99 a yard at 59" wide.... if the canvas is about as wrinkly as the twill seems to me to be the better buy???? or am I missing something....

    BTW tanks fer the help!!

The wrinkling issue has to do with 100% cotton content, not twill vs. canvas (which is the weave pattern of cloth). I've made kilts from both styles of JoAnn's bottom-weight poly/cotton and it works well, not the heaviest cloth but fine for summer wear or year-round warm climates such as we enjoy here in San Diego. Probably not the thing for an Ohio winter, though

For $4/yard, it's hard to beat. Stock up and have fun with it! Keep us posted and ask away, lots of us have used that manual and can help if something seems not to make sense.

What sydnie said.... that $4 a yard stuff works fine, for a warm weather kilt. Wear a kilt pin with the kilt when you're done, and strut your stuff.

Thanks fella's I went to joanns today picked up[ some straight pins and some velcro and a big spool of thread and splurged on 4 yards of black and 4 yards of hunter green in the poly/cotton canvas(target?) thats enough for 4 kilts or maybe 2 solid color ones and if they turn out one of those with the different colored inside pleats ..... black and hunter green would look pretty nice if you ask me ....

Now to hunt up a sewing machine
