My lovely sister has plowed her way through Barb's book and Barb's/Matt's supplement on how to make a box pleated kilt and says she's ready to give it a shot. Now I need material.

Two questions:

1) Tweed or tartan for a box pleat?

2) Where can I find suitable wool/wool blend that is reasonably priced? Frankly, I don't want to mortgage the farm until she gets some experience. I love her, but even she's said, "Who knows how this first one's going to turn out?"
