Nice pictures! Sounds like you had a good time in our fair state. Most people up here don't comment on my kilt - did you get very many comments?
For readers who might want to duplicate your trip on a budget, check out the Alaska Marine Highway System. It's a pretty economical way to see SE Alaska if you drive to Prince Rupert, BC then take the ferry as far north as Haines, AK.
Lest you think it's always cloudy in Alaska, here's some blue sky behind one of the College Glaciers out of Whittier:

Most of my time was spent on the ship, but overall, very few comments on the kilt. I did have a woman come up to me out on deck in Glacier bay and said she just wated to tell me she took my picture to show her husband. It seems that he is to be kilted at their daughter's wedding and wanted to prove there was a man kilted in Glacier Bay.
We looked at the Alaskan Marine Highway , but it requires more time, and we had elderly parents along as well.
Abax, you live in a wilderness wonderland. We thouroughly enjoyed our visit.

But beautiful pictures, and thanks for sharing them with us. Glaciers are such interesting critters, and all different.

There you go making me homesick. No wait, winter is coming and I'm in Arizona now. You don't have to shovel sunshine!
The older Alaska Marine Highways ships were built from other ships. Because of this they vibrated like crazy because of the previous stress patterns in the steel. And they were noisy as heck. Here is a link to my old college transportation. As I recall my last trip North cost me $200 including my motorcyle (from Seattle). In those days half of the ship slept in the solarium, like a giant hippie slumber party. Thanks for the memories. O'Neille
