Day Wear
Hi Folks,
I have worn kilts in the past but only at formal events and at the rugby. I am looking to purchase a jacket or 2 as I have always hired them in the past. I have my eye on an Argyle and vest for semi to full formal wear but have a few trips coming up were less fromal day wear would be appropriate. Country gent style
I have a 2 kilts:
Chisholm Hunting

McGregor

I am looking for outfit to go with my Chisholm kilt, lots of brown and green, but have no idea what to go for.
I am thinking some kind of tweed but dont really know anything about it. Plus maybe a brown sporran and some brown brogues.
Just looking for thoughts and suggestions.
Thanks
Jon

I don't know how practical this is, but ask for a swatch of the jacket material. Even if the charge you US$20 or so, it would be a good investment, as a verbal description, or what you see on the computer screen is not an accurate guide to actual colour. I agree that the Lovat Green would be a logical choice. But you might also want to consider something more neutral, as charcoal gray.

I agree with Carolina Kiltman. A swatch of the jacket material if it is available would be a good idea. It can save a lot of time when looking for accessories. When I was in the corporate game, I carried a swatch from all my suits with me when I would shop for dress shirts and ties.
I would lean toward the charcoal gray for a first purchase since it is more versatile than the Lovat Green would be.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I am planning a trip to a few charity shops to see what jackets I can find with the intention of doing a DIY job as well.
Might build up quite a wardrobe at this rate
Cheers

Marchbrae (a.k.a. The Woollen Mill) on High Street has a contemporary-style charcoal tweed jacket and waistcoat.
Take a look here: https://www.marchbrae.co.uk/acatalog...Waistcoat.html
Visit the shop and take a look at the jacket.
