On Monday, April 6th, we will have a Tartan Day Memorial Celebration from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the San Jacinto Monument in honor of all those of Scottish ancestry who fought for Texas independence.
Visit the website for more information and directions; http://www.sanjacinto-museum.org/ . There is a "veterans roll" listed on the website - see if you have any direct relatives who fought.

There will also be an observance in San Antonio:
April 3 - 6:00 pm - The Scottish Society of San Antonio and the San Antonio Highland Games Association will be hosting our Tartan Ceremony at the Alamo . It is free to all that attend. The Alamo holds special meaning to all Texans, but it is where so many of Celtic heritage gave their all for Texas liberty. Over 100 of the 186 that died that day were of Celtic heritage.
The San Antonio Highland Games are Saturday-Sunday, 4-5 April 2009 at the Helotes Festival (Cornyval) Grounds, 12210 Leslie Road off Bandera at Loop 1604.
We'll be there!

Hey, Shaun! I won't be at the Friday ceremony, but come by my MacIntyre tent during the weekend.

My wife and I are planning on being at the Alamo on Fri. The Army has had other plans the past couple of years.
