The Band of the Irish Guards and Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland in Concert!!!

Greetings lads and lassies, My wife and I have the awesome opportunity to see the Band of the Irish Guards and the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, live in concert this Saturday, February 13 at a local theatre called The Fabulous Fox Theatre in Saint Louis, Missouri (USA). I have seen the Royal Highland Regiment, the Black Watch (before amalgamation of the Regiments in 2006) massed pipes and drums, along with their Regimental dancers at The Fox, and they were just magnificent! We are certainly looking extremely forward to this concert, as my wife has never heard or seen massed pipes and drums of such caliber.

Naturally, I will be wearing Highland attire and I shall post our photos of the evening, as there is a scheduled pre-concert social hour with members of the band, as well as an impromptu after party with what it looks like, several pipers and tenor drummers. My good friend, Matt Pantaleoni, who is a professional piper and a former P/M, in the area and competes in Scotland every summer, knows a few of the pipers! Exciting indeed! I shall reflect on how the experience unfolds and will get our photos up!

They played at Nazareth in late January. My wife and I went, great show, I especially enjoyed the pipes. Irish Guards were good, but I am not a huge brass band fan.

Had a wee dram with friends at the Pittsford Pub post concert, it was a great evening...

I had no idea Matt has his own web site; many thanks for that!

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend either the St Louis or the KC performances this year, although Asser1 & I were able to make the Welsh Guards and Black Watch @ the Fox in 2006, and even caught up with some of the lads after the show at the Scottish Arms.

If anyone will be attending at the Orange County (Ca.) Performing Arts Center give a shout, my wife and I will be attending. I will be wearing my Saffron kilt of course..

But you know the band is good when you don't like brass and you still think they're good.

Their performance here in Buffalo was excellent.
And one of the Irish Guards' officers complimented me on my kilt suit afterward, saying that I was "dressed appropriately."

The mix of brass and pipes cannot be equaled. Either on there own can be a bit much but the harmony of the two is brilliant. I hate to miss the show, I'm sure they will come round again.
