As promised ... Caving Cilt

My Caving / Bad Weather Mountain Cilt

This Cilt has been on some hard and long Caving trips. Its all I use it for now, as well as any mountain walking, if the weather is likely to be very wet. Needs a good 'ol patch up. Other than this damage the rest of the Cilt is fine.

You have posted some great photos lately. Thanks. I was in Wales a few years ago. I remember that the signs were in "Gaelic" and all "right to the point" and not wasting time on English. I liked that.
I have to ask you why you spell our favorite article of clothing "Cilt" I can't place that anywhere but you. Where does that come from? Thanks Teri

If I may, there is no 'k' in Gaelic. Being still quite close to the language, this is the way the Welsh spell it.

No 'K' in Welsh, that is; but I believe the 'C' is usually? hard. Thus most of the Welsh kilt wearers call themselves cilt wearers.

There's a rather fascinating scholarly paper from a few years back, describing the ability of our brains to process misspelled words correctly, when only letters central to the word are switched (as opposed to substituted for letters not found in the word).

Consequently, when I see people writing "cilt", I initially process the word as something quite different.

For example...when I read a post from a guy who states...

"I wore my new cilt today!"

I want to ask, "How's Tijuana these days?"

At any rate, sew that kilt up and wear it without a sporran occasionally

. Should be a great conversation starter
