I am "free range," like Piper above. No band affiliation--have been told I don't play well with others. I started about ten years ago, at the age of 48 after a lifetime of playing brass and woodwinds. Should have started the pipes years (decades?) earlier. I currently play for myself in practice, sometimes for weddings, funerals and church and in a handful of Highland Games each summer. My pipes are 2010 Athertons with the MacDougall bores. I enjoy playing piobaireachds, 6/8 marches and I admire the play of anyone who plays better than I do. Here's me with my pipes (at a picnic):

I'll start.
Located just south of Detroit.
Pipe Major - Windsor Police Pipe Band, Windsor, Ontario.
I'm a grade 4 snare drummer living in Sapulpa Oklahoma, and playing for, and with the City of Tulsa Pipe & Drums. In September of this year (2015) I'll be in my first solo snare drumming competition here in Tulsa at OKScotfeast. My Sept event will be fallowed by a (2nd) EUSPBA competitive performance at Stone Mountain in October of this year (2015).

If anybody out there has any suggestions PLEASE let me know! I wouldn't even mind driving a bit and I hope I'd be able to find a carpool. I've been piping for about three years. Thank you everybody!!!
Not real familiar with your area, but you may find something here: https://wuspba.org/bands-list/ That may be of use.
Good Luck

I had a few CoCers that I curled with, who got me into piping. I started taking lessons through them, and then just before making the leap from chanter to pipes, I moved to NY. Both bands are absolutely fantastic people!

I'm the bass drummer for the Maine Public Safety Pipe & Drum Corps having recently stepped into that role after our former bass drummer moved south for a job opportunity and warmer climate. We'll be at the Maine Highland Games at the Topsham Fairgrounds next Saturday and hope to see some X Markers there!
