What song stirs your highland blood?

Cajun Celt I get your points, Fred Morrsion for example, an amazing piper, theres nothing the guy cant do on a set of pipes, managed to make an audience glaze over with an endless Piobaireachd, Im sure some pipers can make Piobaireachd entertaining, however im just not a fan, lament for the children , i like because i reflect on the meaning behind the tune, i just prefer reels and jigs.

Hi All!
There are three that will make me stop spellbound when I hear them on the pipes, "The Gael","Skye Boat Song", and "Going Home". There are so many wonderful tunes that it is indeed hard to pick though. The pipes stir the soul and set the resolve of the faint, they are a call to war and yet a lullaby in the dark of night, that's the pipes.

Now, outside of a pipes, the tune/song that gets my Highland blood stirring more than any other is "Culloden's Harvest" as sung by Mary Dillon of the defunct rish folk band Deante.

I have all four CDs that this band produced. I'm sorry they are gone, now.

As far as Piobaireachd, my favorite is "Lament for my Brother", which is the only I've heard live. Played amazingly at a funeral, it was probably the most powerful tune I've heard. The second most would have to be Highland Cathedral played with a church organ. The organ and the bagpipes go together very well, but make sure they're tuned!

I've had the opportunity to play my pipes with a church organist. We took the time to tune up before the 'kirkin'. I very much enjoyed it, despite the fact the we only played....AG. It was worth it.

Jamesie's Bonnie Blue does stir the blood! Clan-an-Drumma's "Cold Cold Ground" puts a knot in my craw. "Scotland the Brave" from massed bands raises the hai on my neck. Takes a lot of pipes to have that effect!

I have to agree with most on "Scotland the Brave" and "Amazing Grace." My favorite is "Mist Covered Mountains" especially when accompanied by vocals in Gaelic. These get my blood stirring!
