Tartans and Blood Heritage
I am so stoked right now. I've always had an interest in genealogy and through good fortune can trace my lineage back to my 5 great grandfather, Ludovic Macdonald born about 1750 in Uig, Skye.
While I do love my Macdonald Lord of the Isles tartan I've always wondered which of the many Macdonald clan tartans was the one my ancestors would have worn....yeah they were poor crofters and maybe never wore a kilt, but I like to imagine.
With a bit of poking around I found that the Macdonald of Kingsburgh tartan is from right down the peninsula from Uig. That's gotta be it.
So,up and ordered another traditional tartan tank from Kathy Lare at Kathy's Kilts in the Macdonald of Kingsburgh tartan. The great feelings I'm having about it have nothing to do with the look of the tartan - which I like - they seem more rooted in a sense of heritage...a sense of these are my people...a feeling of being home...feeling proud of my blood.
