    New kilt, which tartan?

I am plannig a new kilt from our local supplier in Thurso. My tartan would be MacLaren modern but I just looked on their website and they have a Caithness tartan which looks very nice. Now I want both! but can only afford one. HELP!

    Caithness Tartan.

I suggest you go with the MacLaren tartan. I don't think the Caithness tartan would work well for semi-formal and formal wear.

    My vote is for MacLaren

I would like to get a MacLaren myself...I should send in my membership paperwork to the association (due to my connection in Scouting). I am not overly enamored of the Caithness that you posted...so MacLaren would definitely be MY choice.

Just looked at the MacLaren page....I REALLY like the Weathered!!!

MacLaren Ancient (the sett shows up better). MacLaren Weathered, if you're up for a second kilt at some point in the future. The MacLaren Weathered colors are very similar to the Caithness tartan's colors.

MacLaren it is, I prefer the modern. Just noted that the Caithness costs £100 more.

    Thanks all.

A sure sign that you're meant to have the MacLaren

Don't forget to post pics when it arrives!
