Those peaks above Moraine Lake resemble the Maroon Bells in Colorado. They were probably formed by similar geological forces - upthrust followed by glacial carving, ... or something like that.

Thanks John, you are right abut the glacial erosion, plus these mountains are only a few million years old they haven't been worn down quite so much as yet.
