The other day I logged on to Ebay (not unusual) and did some of my routine searches (again, not unusual).

But after 15 or 20 minutes of futzing around, I had the sudden urge to search for a kilt jacket - something I hadn't done on Ebay in most of eight months.

And something jumped right out at me! It had a remaining auction time of 6 days and 17 hours, which means it was probably only listed just seven hours prior.

It was a lovat blue Argyll tweed kilt jacket, size 42. Guess what I've always wanted to get! That's right! A lovat blue Argyll tweed kilt jacket! And I wear a size 42! (Well, I can wear a 40 or a 42 - it depends on the cut.)

I don't know about you guys, but in my book I call that fate.

It had a buy-it-now option that was $20 more than the asking price, so I honestly didn't think for more than 30 seconds before pulling the hammer on it. I made my payment and the seller said it will be shipped posthaste.

Wanna see some pics?

He described the condition as "immaculate", but it is a vintage jacket. He usually sells vintage suits, but he does have the occasional kilt jacket pop up.

He also has a website for his other business, which is the making of custom suits. I asked him about starting a line of kilt jackets and he said it was an interesting idea. I suspect if he received e-mails from other people requesting the same, he might take up the challenge!

His website is here in case anyone is interested in checking it out. The owner's name is Peter and he's a cheery fellow!

Oh, did I forget to mention how much I paid for the jacket?

I closed the deal for a grand total of $124 (including shipping and insurance). Not too bad for, well, exactly what I was looking for!

Cheers!
