First of all Commander, thank you for your service to our country. As a Navy Vietnam veteran (Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class), I proudly wear the tartans of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps.
I'm very impressed that the Coast Guard authorizes the wearing of the Coast Guard tartan or family tartan for formal events. Based on your description, the dinner jacket sounds stunning. That, combined with a 9-yard, military weight Royal Stewart must be very impressive.
