I'll use XP until it's no longer supported, just because it's what came in the box, then either move to Linux or get a Mac.
Actually, seven uses less memory than XP on my machine. And a LOT less memory than Vista. Besides that, if you've installed SP3 on XP, you might as well be running vista. The kernel is almost the same for the 32 bit versions at this point-and the memory hogging is actually worse on XP anymore. And considering you are talking about 2 gig being a lot of memory, I'm sure you're not running a 64 bit OS.
