I went to two Burns Suppers in Chicago last winter. Both nights it was about 9º F with below zero wind chill factors. With a wool kilt, wool kilt hose and appropriate coat I felt great. My knees were a bit chilly but since I was totally comfortable above and below the knees, it didn't bother me.
Alaskan Kilted Guy used to have a pic of himself kilted in front of a digital sign reading -30º F (The pic has since been deleted). But here's a thread of him grilling outside in temps of 15-20º F http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/g...x.html?t=35207.
