Today, Friday evening, was the first Holiday Party of the season where I had an opportunity to wear a Kilt.
I moved from the Grafenwoehr military community in Germany, about 200 miles south to Garmisch-Partenkirchen military community about 2 months ago. Still getting settled in (I didn't get email reestablished until last week)

Tonight was the annual Garmisch Garrison Christmas Reception. It included about 75 garrison employees (all were invited, but not all came) and about 100 German Guests, local mayors, military, and police officials.

I wore my Hay Modern Kilt with Argyl Jacket and vest. Very nicely received by both Germans and Americans. The buffet food was good and the venue was nicely done with lots of lights and evergreens. (The Germans know how to throw parties!)

Here are a couple of photos taken after my wife and I got home. She is not big on parties, but I guess she liked this one. Gave me a big hug!

Next friday is the informal office luncheon. My group is going to a local hotel right at the foot of the Zugspitze (Germany's highest Alp) where they have a very good buffet. I'll wear a different kilt for that.

Since moving here we have been able to go to several Christmas Markets, in Munich, Oberammergau, and Garmisch. I think we put on five pounds at each one as we ate from one stand after another. Bratwurst, Gluwein, cinnamon almonds, and miscellaneous other treats. Lots of great wood carving down in this area also.

Happy Holidays to all!
