A Good Day to be Kilted
I spent all day kilted yesterday (from 5am to 11pm) and didn't have one negative experience. It was a grand day.
I wore a kilt in Elliot tartan (along with kilt jacket and tie) to work and received nothing but postive comments all day (usually I get at least one joking comment about wearing a skirt). I had several people say how much the liked the kilt. One woman talked to me about the tartan, another said she liked the hose and garters. A few just remarked "nice kilt" as they passed. And, I got a lot of smiles as people saw me.
After work I had class and again received several favorable comments from my classmates and my two professors. As I was leaving after class one woman told it was she liked the kilt but that I was going to get cold (it was in the low 50s and raining) and I said I was used to it. Actually, the weather reminded me of my visit to Skye in 2005 so I felt right at home, so to speak.
Next stop was the Battlefield Band concert. In the past there were usually two or three kilts in evidence but this year I was the only one. Again I received several "like your kilt" comments, and one woman complimented my sporran.
I should have taken a camera along but since I work in a building where cameras aren't allowed I didn't even think about until this morning.
