Good Kilt Day -- 1st Day in the office kilted - New Pic Added

This is the first day that I wore the kilt to the office for the day. After my initial exposure on Nov 14 for the Kirkin' o' the Tartans, I received a number of favorable responses -- let's see it again. Today we had two big social events, one at noon and one in the evening. So I decided that today would be a good day to wear it all day to work. Very good responses. It's a good conversation starter. The home that hosted us this evening was the home of a woman whose name is Forbes. She was delighted. I noticed glasses with the Forbes Clan crest with a Forbes tartan design. I even got asked "the question" by a new member in the office hallway with some of the female staff members in attendance. I started with, "Are you sure you REALLY want to know?" When she didn't pass on that, I just timed it right with a shrug and the "socks and shoes" response. That brought a laugh and the end of the conversation. They were caught off guard. Keep it a mystery.

Earlier I had shown our Interim Rector (my boss), whose heritage is Welsh (has a Welsh flag on his car) and name is Evans, that there is an Evans Welsh tartan. He was interested in having a tie made. When we talked about it today, he admitted that he really wants a kilt made up with it. He looked at the occasions that he could wear it. So, I put him in touch with Kathy Lare. Another one on the way.

Then I visited the Irish Cultural Center to sign up for piping class. They have a new term beginning in January. I think that one of the other clergy staff members and her husband are also going to sign up. More kilts coming.

All in all, a very good day! Here's a pic. I picked up the sweater at JCPenney last evening. It was on sale for $20. With a $10 coupon in the mail, it cost me $10.

I think that I'm getting the hang of it!
