I've never considered gauntlet cuffs an indication of the level of formality. Do you?

I wasn't equating them with formality, per se. But in my mind's eye, the picture of a gauntlet cuff paired with a leather elbow patch just didn't look right. Seemed to me it would take the jacket from "nice" to "beater" status.

But that's just my mind's eye. Got a picture of a jacket with gauntlet cuff and patches to prove me mistaken?
