Tell me about the three layered kilt belt, that sounds intriguing.
The outer layer of the belt is elk hide. While the middle layer is supple cowhide, and the inner layer is the loop portion of a strip of Velcro. The three pieces are glued and stitched together. One end of the belt is folded over a metal loop, which hooks into the belt buckle. The other end has approximately one foot of the inner layer using the hook portion of the Velcro. The belt is slipped through the link on the buckle and the Velcro is used to size the belt to the waist, and gives approximately a five to six inch adjustment range. The sporran belt and hanger are also constructed in the same manner. I have attached a photo of the edge of the belt and another of the sporran and belts together.
