I bought my first sporran from her, quite a few years ago, she gave me good advice & a great sporran. The company was located in Punta Gordon FL.

I read recently - over on the Dunsire forum - that the Mr. Craigie died some time ago and his widow decided to fold the business this past year. It appears the sporrans.com website has been folded into Scottishkilts.com.

I bought my one and only personal sporran from them - a full mask badger - plus a brown kilt belt and sporran hanger about 10 years ago.

I bought my first sporran, kilt belt, hanger and sporran belt from her eight years ago. Spoke with her last year when I ordered a second sporran, belt, hanger, and kilt belt for day wear. She had said business had been a little slow.

I don't know of anybody who makes the three layered kilt belt, or the braided sporran belts and hangers that Craigie's Originals made.

My first custom sporran came from them way back when they were in Ohio I think. I was sorry to see them close their doors.

I just got a new sporran from Wyvern Leatherworks which is a real beauty. If you are looking for a new one I could recommend them.

It's a shame, but I respect her decision. My very first sporran was a Craigie, a Rob Roy style. I also have a full mask from Craigie from about 10 years ago, a silver fox I named Bad Dog. I took this pic of it just a couple of weeks or so ago:

I believe Robert Pel makes a braided sporran belt.

Tell me about the three layered kilt belt, that sounds intriguing.

The outer layer of the belt is elk hide. While the middle layer is supple cowhide, and the inner layer is the loop portion of a strip of Velcro. The three pieces are glued and stitched together. One end of the belt is folded over a metal loop, which hooks into the belt buckle. The other end has approximately one foot of the inner layer using the hook portion of the Velcro. The belt is slipped through the link on the buckle and the Velcro is used to size the belt to the waist, and gives approximately a five to six inch adjustment range. The sporran belt and hanger are also constructed in the same manner. I have attached a photo of the edge of the belt and another of the sporran and belts together.

    Oh Wow!

Highlander...that is a spectacular set!! I like it very much. Might need to think about making something like that!

Thank you. It's their Bard sporran. I had Sue put the tassels in that configuration instead of the six they normally used. On the inside of both my Craigie sporrans, there is a pouch attached to the back. It's large enough to hold a wallet, a cellphone, or keys and your money clip, and still have plenty of room in the sporran.

PM me if you would like more information on how it's made.
