I'd agree with Jordan, if you don't have a bow tie or a tweed Argyle, then just shirt and tie. Have a good time.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

My $ .02...number 2....but hike up your kilt up, the vest will cover the top if it is too high. However you go, the main thing is to have fun!!!

Well. now you only have an hour and a half to get there, so this may be moot. However, my advice is put all of these on. You can always remove your jacket and put it on the back of your chair, but will feel awkward if you are the only one not wearing one. It's too late to worry about having the wrong jacket or tie. You will do just fine as you are.

You can find a bow tie at any tux rental place. For sale not just rent. Also mens stores like Mens Warehouse if you have such nearby.

I'm fairly sure that none of the other guests will know that a bow tie would look better with that jacket. Personally, I think a bow tie would push the look to a dressier level, which you might not want to do. Go with Option 3 and ditch the jacket if you feel over dressed.

I like #2- nice and dressy, but not too much. The PC looks too formal.

I think that a low cut vest coupled with a long neck tie doesn't look right, so I vote for #1.

I have to say that a wedding is jacket and tie for me... Regardless of dress code...

I might be a little late based on the 3hr window, but if you think it's too long and you dont have a bowtie, you might want to consider a suit/coat(jacket) this time and wear the kilt next time? Unless they asked you to wear it of course...

If i had to pick one of the options, then i guess the waistcoat and a straight tie would be the way i'd go... Take the tie off unbutton the collar and you dress it down some if you need to...

Now you're suggesting he needs to shave too????

Maybe i'd second guess myself and say that casual dressed down might be a simple chic look... Hard to say without knowing the rest of the guests and the dress code though...
