    David,
It is close to the saxe blue color. However, it is a bit darker. I was sent a few swatches of the colors I was considering (lovat green and saxe blue) This color was included as an option.

The saxe blue is a bit lighter almost a baby blue if you will. The royal blue is a bit darker. This "Regalia" is in between the two. It was discribed to me as a "mid blue" through my correspondence with Mackies and Redshanks.

Hi, Paul – like you I have ordered from Robert Mackie, and I can barely wait to see how my bonnet comes out.
Bucking the X Marks trend I made inquiries about a military-style tammie, rather than a balmoral, but an old-fashioned style – the kind worn during the First World War.
I wanted something resembling my old army tammie (which is naturally khaki), but with a bit more dash to it. (Of the colours they offered me, I chose dark green. I would have preferred blue.)
They were hesitant at first, but once I had supplied pictures from X Marks of First World War troops, and a Second World War jock wearing an old-style bonnet, they said they would try it as a once-off item.
I will post pictures when it arrives . . . but they will only start making it next month, or so they say.
    The jones!
    Regards,
    Mike

    Mid "Jocking"

Here is the balmoral after the dunking and shaping phase, now I am in the drying phase. This drying on the head phase seems to be a long process, but it gives me a good excuse to wear the bonnet! (As if I needed an excuse!)

(Getting a back view is proving problematic to do alone with out a tripod.)

I am trying to embrace the lumps and wrinkles as everyone has told me to do. It seems to be a bit harder said than done.

Thank you Chris (Redshanks) for your supreme service! I will be giving you my business in the future for sure! Hopefully, another bonnet and some kilt hose! I will recommend you to all!!! I just wish that all retailers were as attentive to their customers as you are. Truly, your service is a dying trait, but one that will keep you in business for a long time to come!

Paul, many thanks for your kind comments, it's really nice to see the end results of several exchanges of emails with suggestions and ideas, and sending sample swatches out to the customer, I do really appreciate feedback good or bad, I started my wee business to provide customers with the sort of service that I myself would like to receive, and comments such as yours prove that I am providing that service.

So my thanks to you for choosing to shop with Dunadd Trading Company.

    Chris,

Ever since I placed my first order (for my fawn and lovat green diced Balmoral) with you over a year ago, there at Dunadd Trading Company, you have, and continue to, provide the finest customer service with great professionalism, kindness, and a profound respect for customer needs and details. I shall continue to do business with you, however, setting the business aspect aside for a moment, I also consider you a good friend, whom I would love to share a wee dram with one day. Thank you for your commitment to providing outstanding service to your loyal patrons!

    Best wishes,
